TOURANCE™ NEXT features a dual-compound tread layout, with specifications derived from the expertise gained in developing Metzeler’s renowned sport touring tyres. The two main goals of the project focused on achieving supremacy in wet performance and mileage. This combination led to the creation of a new generation of compounds, where top performance is achieved through Metzeler’s patented mixing process. This process results in an unmatched level of homogeneity of the components dispersed in the polymeric matrix, contributing to tyre durability and consistent wear.

Grip on All Types of Asphalt
To deliver optimal wet performance in the Enduro Street segment—especially in critical conditions like wet cornering and panic braking—Metzeler has developed a blend of high-dispersion silica, high-performance synthetic polymers, resins, and plasticizers. The rear sizes of TOURANCE™ NEXT utilize a dual-compound design, with a central stripe approximately 40mm wide, fully encompassing the footprint area during straight riding. This stripe contains 50% silica and carbon black, specially formulated to enhance mileage and traction. The side compound consists of 100% silica, ensuring maximum chemical grip on wet surfaces as well as traction in various conditions. The front sizes feature a high silica content (>50%) combined with diverse polymers and resins, offering excellent handling and grip during both braking and cornering. The tread pattern ensures that the full silica compound is available as soon as the bike leans into a turn, providing riders with confidence and safety.

Stability in All Conditions
The front tyres of TOURANCE™ NEXT are designed with a high-stiffness structure made from rayon fibers, ensuring stability even at high speeds and when fully loaded with luggage and a passenger. The rear tyres feature Interact™ technology, incorporating a three-zone variable tension layout that provides predictable handling while enhancing sporty performance. This specific structure maximizes lateral support and trajectory precision during cornering, resulting in remarkable handling and improved stability for the rider. The Interact™ technology leverages the advantages of dual compound technology, as the transition between compounds is moderated by the variable stiffness of the carcass, offering a progressive tyre response.

ABS Interaction
The profiles of TOURANCE™ NEXT have been meticulously developed alongside the tyre structure to optimize street and touring performance. The profile is rounded in the half-lean portion and flatter toward the center, while the sidewalls exhibit a rounded profile that, coupled with a stiffer internal structure, improves damping capacity. This design enhances riding comfort and shock absorption on rough terrain, and importantly, it supports ABS systems. The pulsating effect of ABS requires effective force absorption by the tyre to improve anti-lock performance.
